Maggie Grace, born Margaret Grace Denig on September 21, 1983 in Worthington Ohio, is an American actor. She is famous for her role as Shannon Rutherford and Kim Mills as well in ABC's Lost television show. Her birthplace was Worthington in Ohio. She was kicked out of school after her parents separated to go into Los Angeles to live with her mother. As she struggled financially, she was able to land her first role as Rachel's Room's main character the online video show Rachel's Room in 2001. In 2002, she was nominated for a Young Artist Award with her character as a 15 year old murdered Martha Moxley. Grace played Shannon Rutherford on the Lost television series in 2004. The show featured her as the principal role for two seasons, and won an award for her performance, a Screen Actors Guild Award. Grace was forced to quit the show in order to focus on her acting career. The actress had been on the show with Tom Welling opposite in The Fog in 2005. In addition, she appeared in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club (both 2007) and opposite Liam Neeson as Kim Mills in Taken in 2008. In 2008, she played the same role as Kim Mills in Taken 2 and Taken 3 (both in 2012). Grace returned to her role as Shannon in Lost, including the finale. In 2013, she appeared in the sixth episode of Californication. She portrays Faith who is both an avid stargazer as well as a socialite. Hank Moody, played by David Duchovny, falls for her. Gyllenhaal is a member of her family and is the elder sibling of Jake Gyllenhaal. Her career began in the teen years with minor roles in several of his films. She also appeared with her brother in the cult favorite Donnie Darko (2001). She appeared next in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal's leading roles in Secretary, a romantic comedy-drama erotico, and Sherrybaby (a dramatic) received her nominations for Golden Globe Award. She gained wider recognition when she portrayed Rachel Dawes, a superhero in The Dark Knight (2008), thanks to several successful commercial films that she was a part of in the year 2006. The role she played in Crazy Heart as a mother who is a single parent received her a nomination in an Academy Award Best Supporting Actress. In the following years, she appeared in comedy and dramas Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) and The Won't Back Down (2012). In addition to her role as an agent of the Secret Service agent, she has also appeared on screen in White House Down (2013) and Frank (2014). The latest roles included the protagonist of the film The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal was the writer and director of her first film, The Lost Daughter in 2021. The psychological drama won Best Screenplay Award from the Venice International Film Festival. It was also nominated to be awarded the Academy Award of Best Adapted Screenplay.
